John Crane Nature and Outdoor Photography specializes in photographing anything outside you get wet, cold, filthy & exhausted doing.

"For since the creation of the world, God's invisible qualities-His eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse." Romans 1:20 NIV

I've studied art my whole life. Early on I was influenced by the likes of the late Galen Rowell, Ansel Adams, N.G. Photographer Steve McCurry, the escapades of noted climbers Yvon Chouinard, Royal Robbins and Ron Kauk, as well as other artists such as Canadian wildlife artist Robert Bateman, noted airbrush illustrator David Kimbal, famed artist M.C. Escher and others. I studied Photojournalism at University of Iowa for a period in the mid-80's intending to work for National Geographic, then moved on to Colorado to receive a BFA focusing on Illustration & Graphic Design. All the while nuturing my penchant for photography exploring and documenting the Rocky Mountain West, from New Mexico to the Canadian Rockies.

In 1992 I broadened my horizons with a second trip to Alaska's interior where I traveled for a month, adventuring and photographing all I saw. Upon returning I married my wife Annie and moved to the vibrant art community of Santa Fe, New Mexico.

In early 2000 we returned home to Colorado where we currently reside with our son. My faith in Jesus Christ as redeemer and savior is the guiding force in my life and I'm active in my church & community.
